Luke Rodgers – Director

Luke grew up inspired by his actor parents’ love of storytelling and the playful environment it requires. He spent many years working in early years education, while building a strong body of short films. His work has won funding from the UK Film Council, Film London, IdeasTap and the Pears Foundation. His films have screened at many festivals internationally including Rushes Soho where he was nominated for Best Newcomer, and Cinerail Festival Paris, where his first film THE PROGRESSION OF LOVE won the audience award.

His next film I SPY premiered at the 56th London Film Festival and was selected to be screened at Danny Boyle’s Shuffle Festival. His short film YOU HAVE TWO FEET, which explores play and absurdity as a means of escape, was nominated for Best Comedy Short at the 2016 London Short Film Festival. With his writing partner, Simon Lord, he was selected for Edinburgh International Film Festival’s Talent Lab programme, followed by the Network programme, being mentored by BAFTA nominee Peter Ettedgui.

His short film ON THE BEACHES about Albert Einstein’s time in Norfolk starred Bella Ramsey (GAME OF THRONES, THE LAST OF US) and Nicholas Woodeson (ROME), and won the UK Jewish Film Festival’s Pears Short Film Prize.
